This was a project we did for a long-standing customer to put in his library. We leather bound 32 books containing 20th century journals and papers on Entomology. This is likely to be one of the greatest selections of books and papers on the subject in the world – and certainly the most beautifully bound!
For consistence all volumes were bound in burgundy buckram, a stiff cotton cloth with a loose weave, with raised bands and gold lettering to the spine. The rebind ensured that these books will be preserved and enjoyed by future generations, and are a sight to behold in any home library.
Over the years, we have bound many books for this loyal customer, all in this unique style and in batches of 20 copies. We bind his books individually in buckram, in quarter leather or half bound in leather with marbled sides.
Ludlow Bookbinders welcomes bespoke commissions like this, to rebind collections of books. We also serve customers looking for a single title to be leather bound via our sister company Ludlow Rare Books, and we undertake book repair and restoration via The Index Bindery.
