Liber Bestiarum
Joe Whitlock Blundell and Kate Grimwade, Production Directors at the Folio Society, came to us with this project.
It was a huge job, with an immensely complex blocking combination on both the cover and the spine. Phil achieved an extraordinary result, making a total of 10 passes on the blocker - five to the front and five to the spine - onto a red grained goatskin.
The end result is an exquisite design.
This facsimile edition of one of the most stunning bestiaries from the mid-13th century is now housed in the Bodleian Library.
